Yes I have had situations like that, and I have helped them cross over. I have never had a reading that scares me, in fact quite the opposite. However there have been times where I didn't want them to come in and talk to me so I got my partner at the time to chase them away... haha they don't scare me but they are certainly told to return at a time when I am not in bed and heading to the bathroom!
